Your privacy on YoP

This Privacy Policy explains how YoP ("YoP", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the YoP mobile app and related services (the "Service"). By using YoP, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

Account details — email address, password, username, and display name. If you sign up or verify with a phone number, we collect that number for verification.
Profile information — profile photo, bio, location text, and interests you choose to add.
Content you create — photos you upload, post descriptions, questions, the options you compare (A/B), tagged brands, categories, and occasions.
Votes and feedback — the votes and ratings you give on other people's posts.
Communications — messages you send to our support team.

Information collected automatically

Device & usage data — device type, operating system, app version, and how you interact with the app, used to operate and improve the Service.
Push notification token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token so we can send notifications (for example, when someone in your Circle posts).
Diagnostics — crash and performance data to help us fix problems.

Contacts (only with your permission)

If you choose to find friends from your phone's contacts, we access your contacts only after you grant permission, and use them solely to help you connect with people you already know. You can decline this and still use YoP.

2. How we use your information

Provide core features — posting, voting, feedback, your Circle, and badges.
Show your posts to the audience you choose (public, friends-only, or anonymous).
Send notifications you've enabled and respond to your support requests.
Keep YoP safe — detect abuse, enforce our guidelines, and prevent fraud.
Understand usage and improve the app.

3. How your content is shared

You control who sees each post through its privacy setting:

Public posts may be visible to anyone on the Explore feed.
Friends-only posts are visible only to people in your Circle.
Anonymous posts are shared without showing your identity to other users.

You can also blur faces in your photos before posting, and votes can be cast anonymously. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Service providers

We use trusted third parties to run YoP. The primary one is Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Hosting, and Analytics), which processes data on our behalf. Their handling of data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. These providers may process data outside your country; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

5. Data retention & deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing support@yopapp.store from your registered address. Deleting your account removes your profile, posts, and votes from the app; some records may be retained briefly where required for legal, security, or backup purposes, then deleted.

6. Your rights & choices

Access & correction — view and edit your profile information in the app.
Deletion — delete your account and associated data as described above.
Notifications — turn push notifications on or off in your device settings.
Permissions — manage camera, photos, and contacts access in your device settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, California's CCPA/CPRA, or Canada's PIPEDA — including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your data, and to lodge a complaint with your local authority. 7. Age requirements

YoP is intended for users 17 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If we learn we have collected information from a user under 17, we will delete it and terminate the account.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards (including encryption in transit and access controls via our infrastructure providers) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide notice in the app. Your continued use of YoP after an update means you accept the revised policy.
